Rexel Paper Shredders
Paper shredding is an essential act in an increasingly dangerous world of information. I mean, face it, you put information out into the world and if people can use it to make money, they will. If people were exploiting the Haiti disaster to filch money out of generous do-gooders, they'll take your bank information. So what's the solution? Paper shredding. Really, anything with particularly valuable information on it and you should shred it. Which is why everyone should own a Rexel Paper Shredder. Rexel is an office product company owned by ACCO Brands. They make a mean paper shredder.
Rexel paper shredders can do the job you want them to do, but I want to give you a few paper shredding tips to make sure your information is safe. First off, everybody has seen those shows or movies where the law enforcement pieces together the little bits of shredded paper. This is particularly difficult to do as it is, but there are steps you can take to make sure they are not able to do this. Most modern paper shredders, including Rexel paper shredders, will often offer a feature that, rather than cutting the paper up into single long strips, will actually further chop each of these strips up into tinier pieces known as "chads." Yes, "chad" is actually a technical term. These, when cut into multiple pieces, have the tendency to get mixed up with other documents pieces, which makes them particularly difficult to reconstruct. As such, we suggest first getting a paper shredder that isn't going to cut the paper in long, thin strands, but into tinier chad-like pieces, and then, once you have shredded several documents, mixing the chads together.
Then there's the relatively simple process of just shredding it the right way. If you were to have a shredder that shredded in noodle-like strands, what would be the easiest way to read it? If they sent it through so that each line of print was on a strip, right? Right. So naturally, you need to put the paper in with the words going into the shredder perpendicularly. As in, what you would want to do is be able to read the print on the paper until the moment it goes down into the basket beneath. There are a lot of shredders out there known as micro-cut shredders, which cut a single piece of paper into almost 4000 pieces, which is clearly preferable to the smaller ones.
Of course, you need to decide how sensitive your information is. At some point, it might be useful to just burn it. But that's not very environmental. No, what we suggest is using Rexel paper shredders for all of your shredding needs. So in what situations, exactly, should you employ the use of a shredder? I would suggest the following: first, shred anything that might have sensitive financial information on it. Credit card statements, bank statements and anything of the like. Then anything that has any personal information on it really. If a criminal decides to target you, they can take some of your trash and slowly piece together an accurate picture of your personal information and then use that. Of course, there are other things that you can shred that are more romantic. I think it's a pretty solid gesture to shred love letters from a failed relationship, almost as good as burning them. Actually, what I'd do, to show that you are really over a person, would be to shred the letters and then burn them. I'd imagine they are good kindling. Careful lighting them. Once again, this is not particularly environmental. Any "sensitive documents," really, are what you can shred with a Rexel paper shredder.
That said, we do not support any criminal activity with these most excellent shredders. Ollie North will forever be known for being a pretty huge ass, as will Ken Lay, who is just such a jerk. And the reason why? Because they shredded. Among other things. So don't add shredding to any litany against you. Better to be a noble criminal than a cur.
